Overview

LMI is seeking a Junior Platform Engineer to support IronSled, a Platform as a Service designed to host applications in secure federal environments. You will be an initial member of a small, cross-functional team responsible for supporting tenants, maintaining platform reliability, and improving the overall user experience.

Your primary responsibility will be managing technical issues and service requests submitted by teams using IronSled. You will own issues from initial review through resolution, coordinate with senior engineers when deeper expertise is required, and ensure tenants receive clear and consistent communication throughout the process.

This is not a traditional help desk position. You will investigate issues across applications, Kubernetes environments, deployment pipelines, identity services, cloud infrastructure, and platform integrations. You will also have opportunities to automate recurring tasks, improve documentation, and contribute directly to the platform as your experience grows.

This position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required.

About the Team

IronSled sits within LMI’s Chief Technology Office. We are a small, high-visibility team building and operating a secure application-hosting platform for federal agencies. Our culture is more product-focused and collaborative than a traditional government contracting environment. We move quickly, solve problems directly, and prioritize outcomes over unnecessary process.

At the same time, our users depend on IronSled to operate critical applications, making reliability, security, communication, and attention to detail essential.

You will work closely with the Product Manager, Engineering Lead, platform engineers, application developers, and tenant teams. Because IronSled is continuing to evolve, you will have opportunities to help improve its support processes, documentation, automation, and technical capabilities.

LMI is a new breed of digital solutions provider dedicated to accelerating government impact through innovation and speed. By investing in technology and prototypes ahead of need, LMI delivers commercial-grade platforms and mission-ready artificial intelligence capabilities to federal agencies at commercial speed.

Headquartered in Tysons, Virginia, LMI supports the defense, space, healthcare, and energy sectors, helping agencies navigate complexity, modernize critical capabilities, and strengthen mission outcomes.

Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

  • Manage tenant issues and service requests from initial intake through resolution.
  • Troubleshoot problems involving Kubernetes, application deployments, CI/CD pipelines, identity, networking, cloud services, and platform integrations.
  • Communicate clearly with tenants about issue status, required information, next steps, and resolution.
  • Escalate complex issues to senior engineers while maintaining ownership and coordination.
  • Document solutions, recurring problems, and platform procedures in the IronSled knowledge base.
  • Identify repetitive support work that can be improved through automation or platform enhancements.
  • Assist with tenant onboarding, access requests, environment configuration, and deployment support.
  • Contribute to platform maintenance, testing, monitoring, and engineering work as your skills develop.

Qualifications

What We’re Looking For

  • 1–3 years of experience in platform engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, software development, systems administration, or technical support.
  • Foundational understanding of Linux, containers, Kubernetes, cloud services, networking, and CI/CD concepts.
  • Experience troubleshooting technical issues and working through problems methodically.
  • Familiarity with Git, GitLab or GitHub, command-line tools, and infrastructure or application logs.
  • Ability to communicate technical information clearly to users with varying levels of experience.
  • Strong ownership, organization, and follow-through when managing multiple issues.
  • Willingness to learn unfamiliar technologies and seek assistance when appropriate.
  • U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance.
