Overview

LMI seeks a Data Management and Automation Specialist to analyze, automate, and sustain administrative workflows for a Joint Staff element. The specialist builds and maintain office data solutions, improve reporting, reduce manual workload, and keep headquarters information accurate and accessible. The ideal candidate pairs strong data discipline with practical automation skills and translates user needs into reliable, secure, easy-to-use solutions. This position requires on-site support in the National Capital Region and an active Top Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (TS/SCI) clearance. The position requires periodic travel to supported commands, operational units, exercises, test events, and industry locations.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze current administrative and force management workflows to identify data gaps, manual handoffs, duplicate effort, and opportunities for automation.
  • Design, build, test, and maintain approved data management and workflow automation solutions using Microsoft 365, Power Platform, SharePoint, Excel, and other customer-authorized tools.
  • Develop dashboards, trackers, automated notifications, approval workflows, forms, and reports that improve visibility and reduce administrative cycle time.
  • Integrate data from multiple headquarters sources while preserving data lineage, access controls, classification markings, and authoritative-source relationships.
  • Establish and execute data quality controls, including validation rules, reconciliation processes, duplicate detection, issue tracking, and routine accuracy reviews.
  • Gather requirements from administrative, force management, security, facilities, supply, and executive support stakeholders and translate them into practical technical solutions.
  • Document data definitions, solution architecture, business rules, standard operating procedures, user guides, and sustainment requirements.
  • Provide user training, troubleshooting, and adoption support for developed solutions.
  • Monitor solution performance, resolve defects, manage configuration changes, and coordinate updates with customer information technology and cybersecurity personnel.
  • Prepare recurring and ad hoc analysis that supports manpower, workload, tasking, travel, facilities, supply, and headquarters decision-making.
  • Support governance of shared data repositories, permissions, retention practices, and version control.
  • Continuously improve solutions based on user feedback, changing mission requirements, and lessons learned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in data analytics, information systems, computer science, business analytics, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent education and experience.
  • Four or more years of experience in data management, business intelligence, workflow automation, application development, analytics, or a related discipline.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance.
  • Hands-on experience developing solutions with Microsoft Power BI, Power Automate, Power Apps, SharePoint, Excel, or comparable enterprise tools.
  • Experience collecting and translating business requirements into data models, dashboards, automated workflows, and user-facing solutions.
  • Working knowledge of data quality, data governance, access control, records management, and configuration management principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot data and workflow issues, perform root-cause analysis, and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Strong written communication, documentation, customer engagement, and user training skills.
  • Ability to work independently while coordinating effectively with administrative users, technical teams, and senior stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 collaboration and productivity applications.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting the Joint Staff, a combatant command, a Service headquarters, or another Department of Defense organization.
  • Experience with Dataverse, SQL, Python, application programming interfaces, or cloud-hosted data services.
  • Experience developing solutions in classified or tightly controlled government environments.
  • Microsoft Power BI, Power Platform, data analytics, Agile, or related professional certification.

 

Target salary range: $151,000 - $179,000
