Overview

LMI is seeking a highly experienced Senior Software Test Automation Engineer to support U.S. Army Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) programs at a client location. The selected candidate will lead and advance automated testing capabilities for a major Defense Business System modernization effort, working closely with Army test agencies, ERP program personnel, and the lead system integrator.

This role is responsible for developing test strategies, automation frameworks, test plans, and quality practices that enable reliable, repeatable, and risk-based testing throughout the software delivery lifecycle. The position supports remote telework, with occasional travel to client offices at Fort Lee and Fort Belvoir, Virginia.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute program-level test and evaluation plans.
  • Coordinate testing activities with Army test organizations, ERP program staff, functional stakeholders, and the lead system integrator.
  • Develop test strategies, test plans, test cases, traceability artifacts, and automated test suites from business requirements, design documentation, user stories, and technical specifications.
  • Design, develop, maintain, and enhance scalable test automation frameworks for applications delivered in a continuous integration and continuous delivery environment.
  • Develop automated test scripts, reusable automation components, test data approaches, and test execution processes.
  • Establish and implement test automation standards, best practices, governance processes, and quality controls within an Agile and SAFe delivery environment.
  • Translate complex business and ERP requirements into effective, maintainable automated test scenarios.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, interface, API, end-to-end, and risk-based testing as appropriate.
  • Integrate automated testing into CI/CD/CT pipelines and promote continuous testing practices.
  • Analyze automation framework performance, test results, defect trends, and test coverage; identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Review test outcomes and recommend risk mitigations, corrective actions, and disposition of recurring discrepancies.
  • Oversee testing activities to ensure delivered products conform to established performance, quality, security, policy, and technical standards.
  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, backlog refinement, daily standups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Mentor test team members and train functional testers in automated testing tools, processes, and best practices.
  • Communicate test status, quality risks, automation metrics, and technical findings clearly to program leadership, auditors, and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ensure requirements are validated and program test objectives are met across releases and deployment milestones.

Qualifications

Required Experience and Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or a related technical field.
  • 10 or more years of professional experience in software quality assurance and test automation, including test framework design, development, implementation, and sustainment.
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale automated testing solutions.
  • Expert-level knowledge of automated testing methodologies, test design techniques, test data management, regression testing, defect management, and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience developing and maintaining automated tests within Agile software development environments.
  • Familiarity with the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Agile delivery practices.
  • Experience integrating test automation with CI/CD platforms and source-control tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to diagnose and communicate complex ERP, integration, and data-related defects.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts, testing risks, and quality findings clearly to senior leaders, auditors, functional stakeholders, and technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multi-stakeholder Department of Defense environment.
  • Commitment to quality, documentation, repeatability, traceability, continuous improvement, and test automation excellence.
  • Active Secret security clearance.
